Version 1.0

Tuning: Standard
Key: G Major

Today, ladies and gentlemen, we have a tab for 'Black Treacle' the second track
from Arctic Monkeys upcoming fourth album entitled 'Suck it and See' This is a tab
of the live version so I will make any adjustments when the studio version
actually gets released but I don't expect any of the chords to change so this is
about as accurate as it will ever be. Nothing too complex here, can all be played
open with the exception of a couple of chords. I'll post a link to the youtube
video if you want to play along which you will probably need to, to get to grips
with the strumming as there is a fair bit of off-beat strumming throughout the
verses. Regardless, learn, enjoy and as usual; email me if you have any issues.

[Intro]
G

[Verse 1]
G
Lately I’ve been seeing things,
G D C G D
Belly button piercings in the sky at night,
D C
When we’re side by side,
G D C
And I don’t mean to rain on anybody’s cabaret,
C G D
One of those games you’re gonna lose,
D C G
But you wanna play it just incase,

G

[Chorus]
                                      C D G
And now it’s getting dark and the sky looks sticky,
G C D G
More like black treacle than tar,
G C D
Black treacle,
D G Em Cm (let ring) G
Somebody told the stars you’re not coming out tonight,
                  Cm (let ring)
And so they found a place to hide.

G Bm Em

[Verse 2]
G
Does it help you stay up late?
G D C
Does it help you concentrate?
C G D
Does it tune you in, when you chew your chin?
D C G
Am I ruining your fun?
G
And you talk the talk alreyt,
G D C
But do you walk the walk or catch the train?
C G D C
You wanted it, you got it, but you don’t want it now.

G

[Chorus]
                                      C D G
And now it’s getting dark and the sky looks sticky,
G C D G
More like black treacle than tar,
G C D
Black treacle,
D G Em Cm (let ring) G
Somebody told the stars you’re not coming out tonight,
                  Cm (let ring)
And so they found a place to hide.

G Bm Em

G

[Verse 3]
                                    C D G
And now I’m out of place and I’m not getting any wiser,
                         C D G
I feel like the sun dance kid behind a synthesiser,
         Em C D
And I tried last night to pack away the laugh,
          G Cm
Like a key under the mat,
            C D (let ring) G Bm Em
But it never seems to be there when you want it,
C G Bm Em
Black treacle,
C G Bm Em
Black treacle,
C G Bm Em C
Black treacle.

[Ending]
